Recibidores de película

traditional foyer with round table // Bradshaw Orrell

Thanksgiving, althoug an american tradition, we usually celebrate it at our house inviting some friends over for a big lunch. We even send the dress code by mail: last year headdress for ladies and hats for gentlemen was kindly requested. The thing is, that going over this year´s organization, I ended up wandering about the fabulous american homes with huge foyers and round tables in the middle as the main or sole element, and almost always wiht an oversize vase with fresh flowers on top.
So there, this is my Thanksgiving post, no turkey, no table decorations, no candles, only wonderful american foyers!

We finally finished a full decoration project this past september and we suggested different styles for each villa in order to aim different profiles of clients for rentals or sales.
For the first one we opted for a fresh mediterranean style, which we thought was perfect for a holiday home. We used earth hues and blues to evoke nature. We aslo use lots of natural fibers and woods. We aimed for an airy and unpretentious atmosphere that was comfotable and aesthetically pleasing. You can se that project herehere, here and here.
For the second home, we upgraded the decoration choosing a more classic and elegant style. We kept the neutral palette, but introduced more traditional lines in furniture. We increased the number of pieces in each room so we achieved a richer space. Gold and black accents provided sophistication to the rooms. You may see this project here and here
And for the last villa, we suggested a more transgressive decor trying to reach a different public. For that, we used a more agressive color palette abusing of blacks and browns. We used woods and also iron which we softened with washed whites. Also we had pieces rescued from antique shops that were centerpieces of the whole mixed with other modern pieces and we ended up with a decoration with a light industrial look and a very warm feel.
I hope you enjoy it!

Back to Brass

Love the gold finish table lamps with the jet black shades.....makes the space!

I´m sure you´ve already noticed how fond I am of golden accents. I dedicated a whole post to gold here, but I´d like to show you more brass accents that truly enhance spaces providing glare, elegance and sophistication to any room.

Even though some of the pieces I show below look like they´ve been rescued from the past, the truth is they are totally trendy today. Golden accents, glossy or matt are key to sophisticated rooms. I have rescued myself a few pieces from flea markets that have ended as the centerpiece of a client´s living room!
Be daring and go brass!

The best thing about this photograph is those brass shelves. I garbage-picked them two weeks ago. Rug, pillows and stool are all Nate Berkus from Target.
